Glen Eira Unit raises funds for emergency response equipment
Volunteers from Glen Eira Uni have had a positive reception from the public during the annual Caulfield Station coin collection.
Glen Eira volunteers were out in force during at Caulfield Station on Saturday, undertaking important fundraising work during Caulfield Guineas Day. Conditions for the day were perfect, and Glen Eira Unit volunteers received a warm welcome from the huge crowd of racegoers.
Many of the people expressed their appreciation for the work of Glen Eira Unit in the local community.
“It’s an opportunity to get out and interact with the public and raise much needed funds which will go towards provision of emergency response equipment for the unit”, said Unit Controller Bhav Selvalingam. "We have been quite pleased with the positive response and generousity we have had from the public".
The annual coin collection event is one of two major fundraisers conducted by the unit throughout the year. These events are critical in securing funding which allows volunteers to go out and support community members during emergencies, and to conduct community education programs to help build a more resilient community.
